A book is a first edition if it is so stated on the copyright page, and, usually, if the year on the title page is that of the copyright. Some first editions were printed several times during the first year of publication. If a volume is the first of several printings of the first edition that will be noted in the description.
Examine the photos carefully as they are an integral part of the description.
